It’s dark, it’s black, it’s dramatic – It’s at the top of the house,
and it makes a statement! Our master suite is spacious
and an ode to many luxury hotel rooms that we’ve stayed
in over the years. I added my own spin and now we’ve got
a space that feels like we’re sleeping in the best hotel room ever!
At the top of the landing sits one of my favourite pieces of art,
“The Drowning Princess” by JVDAS BERRA from These Fine Walls
and then to the right is the double door entry into the master suite.
Those black tiles took a bit of gentle persuasion,(actually, it took
a whole lot of persuasion) but I promised lots of floor coverings
so no toes would ever get cold! I love the contrast of the sheepskins
on the hard floor surface!
I hung gorgeous Eijffinger Wallpaper from Style by Shipways with an
Oscar Wilde quote imprinted on the paper in velvet.
A huge glass wall separates the bedroom from the ensuite –
another feature that I love and works so well in this environment.
It allows the Villeroy & Boch bathtub to make a grand statement,
and the reflection from the vanity mirrors adds to the total glam of the room. The ensuite
is tiled floor to ceiling with black glass tiles – (our tilers wanted to quit more than once during
the laying of those tiles – it was a painfully slow process cutting them without damaging them.)
But the look of them is ah – maz – ing! The depth of colour that shines from them is truly like
It’s a whole other story that when I’d seen how gorgeous these wall tiles were,
that I pleaded and begged the tilers to do the same in our guest bathroom downstairs!
And look at the storage I have behind those mirrors!
Leading from this bathroom is a separate small bathroom for the toilet. I’ve fitted
it with matching Villeroy & Boch handbasin and the same vanity top featuring the
black sparkly glass. And yes, floor to ceiling with ‘those black glass tiles’!
But ….. my favourite part of the Master Suite?!
The walk in robe!
I’ll write further blogs on the robe, but for now, here are some
pictures of a robe that started as a dream and became a reality!
Hidden behind a mirror is my ‘Special Board’ …. so many treasures
are on here.
So that’s our Master Suite – I think all that is missing is Room Service!!
