Believe it or not, when we were designing the house and adding in all our ‘must have’ features,
we ended up with a spare space to the right of the entrance. By this stage of the planning we had all
the rooms we wanted and now we had to decide what to do with this extra space. We’ve got about
5 big screen TV’s around this house, so why not add another!
Mike is an avid documentary watcher, so we decided to make this space a media room. We’ve fitted
it out with gorgeous black theater curtains on both the window wall and the opposite wall. We’ve installed
a 65 inch Samsung LED HD Smart TV into a slightly recessed alcove. This is supported by surround sound
from our Bose Home Theater system.
To complete this room and to give the best media experience, we’ve carpeted it with stunning Redbook Green
Dawn Mist carpet in the colour ‘Evening Mist’.It’s complemented by Royal Comfort underlay and I must say
it is exquisite underfoot! It really is the Rolls Royce of carpets! We also added a curved black leather lounge from
Nick Scali Furniture, complete with two recliners. It’s a lovely piece and fits the room well.
And I accessorise the room with lots of texture with different cushions, the cowhide giant ottoman
and sheepskin rugs. I complement these with silver occasional pieces and black Georg Jensen items.
This is a great space that lends itself to peaceful viewing and total privacy if you chose to close the double
doors that make this room almost sound proof.
It’s a room that tempts you to enter, to sit back, turn on the TV and spend an afternoon
in complete lazy bliss! Lean back in the recliner, cuddle up under the Ralph Lauren and
watch hours of my favourite episodes …. Yes Please!!
